Posted 04/08/2009 - 15:05 by David Schnardthorst
Solution:
To save your contacts from Outlook to a CSV file:
- Select File -> Import and Export... from the menu.
- Make sure Export to a file is highlighted.
- Click Next >.
- Now make sure Comma Separated Values (Windows) is selected.
- Click Next > again.
- Highlight the Contacts folder.
- Click Next >.
- Use the Browse... button to specify a location and file name for the exported contacts. Something like "Outlook.csv" on your Desktop should work fine.
- Click Next > (once more).
- Now click Finish.
You can now import your Outlook contacts into other email programs such as Mac OS X Mail, for example.

Problem:
How do I backup my Microsoft Outlook PST Files?
Solution:
The Personal Folder file (.pst / PST) is the place where Outlook stores its data. You need to backup this file. You can find the location of this file by:
- Right-clicking on the Outlook Today icon
- Once the Properties dialog box is displayed, click the "Advanced" button.
- The "Path...", shown below by the red arrow, indicates where your Personal Folder file can be found.
- Write this path down and navigate to that folder.
- Copy the file probably named "outlook.pst" to your thumb drive.
As an alternative, you can try to export the data using the tools under the file menu of Outlook.
